Jorge Jiménez, violin and direction

Born in Vilanova i la Geltrú, Barcelona, studied at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Barcelona until 1998. That year he moved to The Netherlands to continue his violin studies with Kees Koelmans.
In 2000 he became a member of the European Union Baroque Orchestra and after gaining his modern violin diploma in 2002 he won a scholarship from the Catalan Government to follow further studies of Historical Violin with Lucy van Dael at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. He has also had masterclasses with Enrico Onofri, Thomas Zehetmair, Rudolf Koelman, Maggie Faultless, Roy Goodman, Pauline Nobes, Enrico Gatti, Remy Baudet, Barry Sargent, and others
Based in the wonderful triangle made by London, Barcelona and Seville, his professional career is developing mainly in England as a member of The King’s Consort and The Retrospect Ensemble, in Spain with Al Ayre Español (with whom he performed as leader in the Salamanca Festival and the Utrecht Early Music Festival) and Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla , in Belgium with B'Rock and in Germany as leader of second violins with Das Neue Orchester. He has also performed with Academy of Ancient Music, English Baroque Soloists, B'Rock, The Irish Baroque Orchestra, Orquesta Barroca de Mallorca, Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla, among others.
He is founder of the group Tercia Realidad and Xacona, ensemble in residence in Girton College Cambridge withnwhom he debuted in the Wigmore Hall in London in 2005 and has performed widely in Spain, Holand, Germany and in the UK.
Jorge is regularly invited to lead groups such as La Tempestad, Accademia dei Desiosi, L'Harmonia del Parnas, Ensemble Fontegara, Il Nuovo Settimino, Il Concerto Barrocco and the Sweelink Barok Orkest.
Other conducting appointments involve being assistant conductor in the Split National Theater Orchestra.
He has recorded for labels such as Naxos, Hyperion, DLR-Capriccio, Lindoro, La Ma de Guido, among others.
Jorge plays on an original XVIII century violin made in Barcelona, an Amati copy made by Luis Fernandez in Valladolid in 2006, an anonimous XVIII century French violin and a Vielle by Morse-Brown 2009.
